Historic Vessel Vega delivers computers to Anambas islands schools
Vega delivers donated laptops for teachers, along with computers and projectors to create classroom IT labs.
Here. is one example from a recent delivery in the Anambas Islands.
Vega 1892 IT equipment to the rescue. We take technology and internet access for granted, for most of us it’s part of our lives, but we tend to forget it is still a privilege in most rural areas in Indonesia and East Timor.
Companies and schools change laptops, projectors and network equipment on a regular basis. Donating that retired equipment to needy schools and vocational training centres gives students in poor areas a better chance in life. We refurbish that equipment with new batteries and software to create computer labs. When equipment breaks we collect it for repair or proper disposal.

The work of Vega 1892 is based on a simple philosophy. When people are healthy and well educated they have a much better chance of solving problems by themselves
Some people take to new technology like fish to clean water. Our friend Fadly on Medang island is one of those lucky souls.
We face a new challenge as due to the Coronavirus crisis, almost overnight, schools in Indonesia had to transfer their regular classes into a virtual environment. Students and teachers lack access to the necessary technology, smartphones, laptops, PCs and internet access.
This year we were lucky to receive a donation of almost new laptops from the German European School Singapore. Those machines are now going a long way to establish computer labs in remote schools. Thank you GESS for making these kids lives a little bit better. There are more to come as our deliveries progress.

For students from these remote islands to take their rightful place in today’s modern world they must learn computer skills.
