Historic Vessel Vega delivers portable refrigerator to remote health posts
Thanks to supporters of Historic Vessel Vega two remote health posts will soon be able to cold store vaccines and other important medications in these rugged solar-powered portable cold boxes. We have most of the components for one solar installation but still need help for the second. Having a constant source of energy allows health workers to provide better community health services.
The Power to Change Lives
In remote villages access to reliable electricity is essential for education and health care needs. It also boosts economic activity. Often, expensive, polluting diesel or gasoline backup generators serve as a makeshift electricity supply, although in many instances generators are impractical.
Distributed solar energy coupled with battery storage offers consistent, affordable carbon-free power for educational & healthcare facilities. Due to the wide-ranging local benefit solar energy is also an important tool for creating resiliency in isolated economies. The training provided during these installations ensures future maintenance and by making possible the proliferation of community residential solar power new jobs are created.
