Teaching Aids for Bobonaro Junior High school
St. Augostino, Bobonaro Villa, District Maliana, East Timor.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM education is important especially in East Timor. STEM activities provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for the student. Making math and science both fun and interesting helps the student to do much more than just learn.
- The Vega & Bakhita team deliver support materials for teaching science to EBCC St. Augostino in Bobonaro-Villa.
- Today we will cross from Atsabe into Bobonaro district.
- It takes 3 hours to reach, through forests and across mountains.
- Bobonaro-Villa is a old small town. It is the center of the region. This is our second visit to the area and the school.
- During Vegas team visit in 2014, the teachers asked us to help them with basic support materials for teaching science
- Thanks to the support from Pt.Dwida Jaya Tama, AIS (Australian international school) and GESS (German European School) we where able to help.
- Basic lab facilities and equipment are few and far between in Timor Leste. The teachers at St. Augostino are young and enthusiastic to learn how to use the support materials and science kits.
- Students are keenly motivated to learn they understand that an opportunity for acquiring any sort of education credentials is dear indeed.
- We will visit the School again next year to follow up on the equipment and it's use. Meanwhile we got 7 more Junior High Schools asking for help - we will need for 2016 more support materials and kits for STEM education – science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
