The gift of sight for elderly people on Medang
Sometimes a very small thing can make a huge difference in someones life. That is what happens with the reading glasses we distribute every year for old people and those who need them. Older people have years of experience that the community can make use of. In their daily lives not being able to see makes them a burden rather than an asset. You should see the faces and hear the comments when someone gets back the ability to see. For some of these people, it was the first time they could see clearly in decades. If you appreciate what we are doing please share these pictures with your friends.
- This man is a boat builder who was having trouble seeing to do his work.
- Nurse Mitha Helmina did testing and distributed the glasses
- Thanks to the kind donation from Cynthia and Hans Hoeffner we distributed 500 reading glasses this year. We used small print on a book or a needle and thread to test.
- 83 years old and she can see again thanks to Vega and our friends.
- A new lease on sight for the elderly. For these small islands there are no shops where glasses can be had.
- The oldest to get back their sight was 92 years old. Not this man though he was only 70
